White-breasted Nuthatch, Sitta carolinensis

This species inhabits mature deciduous and mixed forests. It forages along the tree trunks, head down like the Red-breasted Nuthatch, a common feature of all nuthatches. Nesting period extends from late April through May. It feeds primarily on insects and seeds (sunflower seeds, nuts, fat, and suet at feeders).
