Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Sphyrapicus varius
A rather common species in mixed and deciduous forests, birch and aspen. It bores the bark of trees with rows of small holes to gather the sap and insects that are attracted to it. This behavior is an unmistakable feature of the species. The breeding period extends from May to June.
